Insurance Overview
Dental insurance can make the cost or oral healthcare more manageable by paying a portion or all the fees associated with your office visit. If you're enrolled in a dental insurance plan, Gentle Dental staff members will help you to understand and maximize the benefits your insurance provides. We accept a wide variety of insurance plans; some of the mot common types are listed below.
Indemnity Insurance
Usually offered by employers or unions, indemnity insurance will reimburse you for the cost of treatment provided by any dentist you select. Some plans cover the complete cost of treatment, while others cover a certain percentage or dollar amount toward the total cost.
Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) Plans
PPO insurance will pay for the cost of treatment when you visit a dentist within the PPO Network's list of Preferred Providers (less any co-payments your plan requires you to make). If you choose to visit a dentist that is not part of your Preferred Provider Network, your co-payments will be higher.
Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) or Prepaid Plans
HMO insurance is considered prepaid because during your enrollment period you select a dentist from the HMO's list of providers. The insurance company then pays your dentist a fixed amount every month, regardless of how much dental care you receive. You will generally make a co-payment for treatment, co-payments are usually a fixed amount rather than a percentage of the total cost. Not all procedures are necessarily covered benefits under this type of plan.
